Three towns and thirty-five years of housing between them. Ringgold, Fort Oglethorpe and Lakeview don't need the same work.
Catoosa runs a 51 to 64 minute band for us, Ringgold at 43.7 road miles and Fort Oglethorpe at 53.8.
4,259 owner-occupied homes across three towns
Catoosa runs to 8,644 homes and 4,259 owner-occupied households. Like Walker next door, it's all small towns. Unlike Walker, the three of them are nothing like each other.
1966 to 2001, thirty-five years apart
Lakeview houses date to 1966, Fort Oglethorpe to 1994 and Ringgold to 2001. Thirty-five years between the oldest and the newest means three different jobs under one county name: full rebuilds at the Lakeview end, ordinary repair in the middle, and additions, not replacements, at the Ringgold end.
Fort Oglethorpe, Lakeview and Ringgold
Fort Oglethorpe, 2,174 owner-occupied homes, the largest of the three and the closest thing the county has to a center. Lakeview, 1,372, with the oldest housing in the county and Lake Winnepesaukah inside its boundary. Ringgold, 713, the newest housing and the shortest drive for us at 43.7 road miles. We cover all three.
206 feet to 331 feet
Relief across Catoosa runs 206 feet at Lakeview to 331 at Ringgold, with Fort Oglethorpe at 238. That's a moderate, consistent band, gentler than Walker next door and steeper than Polk. The retaining wall work we do here is mostly a terrace to square up a sloping back yard, not a structural hold against a hillside.
One lake, and where the creeks run
Lake Winnepesaukah at Lakeview is the only named water in the county. Fort Oglethorpe and Ringgold have none, so in those two the reason to screen a porch is ordinary summer use, not standing water. Chickamauga Creek, Spring Creek, Peavine Creek and Black Branch are the drainage lines we lay patios, walkways and steps out around.
All three about the same size
The three Catoosa towns are close in size, and the result for our fence work is a lot of medium-length runs with a walk gate and a drive gate. At the Lakeview end the platting is older and the lines follow the ground, not a plan.
47 to 71 percent owner occupied
Ringgold sits at 48.4 percent owner occupied, Fort Oglethorpe at 47.1 and Lakeview at 71.2. The oldest town is by some distance the most settled one, which inverts the usual pattern and puts most of the patio covers we build in the part of the county with the oldest houses.
The Georgia side of the line

Do you work over the state line?
No. We stop at the Georgia line. Catoosa, Walker and Whitfield are the northern edge of where we go.
Which Catoosa town is the shortest drive?
Ringgold, at 43.7 road miles, which is closer to us than several Cobb County towns.
