Polk County sits in a 56 to 58 minute band, between 33.9 and 37.4 road miles west of Adairsville.

Houses from 1958 to 1974
Rockmart is a 1958 town and Aragon a 1960 one, and Cedartown at 1974 is the youngest in the county. On housing that old the deck question is rarely about the deck: it's about what the deck is attached to and what it's standing on. That's why we start with repair and replacement here and finish with sealing to protect whatever goes on next.
Cedartown, Rockmart and Aragon
Cedartown is the biggest of the three. Rockmart has 1,234 owner-occupied homes and Aragon 431, and we work both as readily as the county seat. Rockmart is 36.6 road miles from us and Aragon 33.9, so both are actually a shorter drive for us than Cedartown is.
132 to 231 feet of relief, a narrow band
Relief across Polk runs 132 feet at Aragon to 231 feet at Rockmart, with Cedartown at 197. That band is narrow, so Polk isn't retaining wall country and we're not going to sell it as one. Flat and old points at deck replacement and at ground-level hardscape instead.
Two lakes in Cedartown, nothing named in the other two
Vance Lake and Springdale Lake sit inside the Cedartown boundary. Rockmart and Aragon have no named water at all, so the reason to screen a porch in those two towns is ordinary summer use, not a lake. Euharlee Creek runs through both of them and Cedar Creek and Lake Creek through Cedartown, which is what our patio and walkway layouts have to account for.
Three towns, none of them big
None of the three Polk towns is big. That means older, less regular platting and fence lines that follow the shape of a lot instead of a grid, so our fence work here takes more layout time and fewer standard panels than a Cherokee County subdivision does. Ownership from 43 to 62 percent
Cedartown runs 43.3 percent owner occupied, Rockmart 61.9 and Aragon 60.9. The two smaller towns are considerably more settled than the county seat, which is where the patio cover work in this county actually is.
